Christmas day, John with his camera. First photo

Solid skate day
I've spent the last few hours trying to figure out dslr workflow in Final Cut, so it could be a while before anyone can see today's footage.

Christmas

3 hours at Marin, 3 guys, 2 boxes, and 1 Bruce Springsteen Song. Really though I'd like to thank Augie, Rom, and everyone else I have ever filmed for putting in so much work so I can make all of these videos, it's been a sick year.

Best

Unbroken

They have an awesome John Cardiel interview up. GOOD READ YO

Albina

Got the shred on between rain storms this past tuesday. Starring Jame Jordan with a few tricks from Anton and a bonus Will sighting.

In other news, my camera has indeed arrived, but I am waiting until tomorrow to use it for the sake of the unwrapping ceremony. I suppose I'll upload some cat footage after the day's feasts and various other festivities, and some sort of holiday themed video might be in the works... Don't hold me to it though

I HAVE NOTHING ORIGINAL TO SAY SO I WILL LINK SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS/THOUGHTS

Boil The Ocean, the greatest skateboard blog in existence, has dedicated a post to the controversy that is Forest Edwards. READ

More

My epic comeback to filming was last weekend with Augie, Rom, James, and Morgan. Not all of the tricks are throwaway in this one, and a few will be in the full length project I've been working on since around July. The music, by Tom Waits, is downloadable a few posts back
(No Kyrons were actually harmed in the making of this clip)

what I just threw most of my life savings out for

Just got around to ordering a Canon 550D for filming purposes, STOKEd. Keeping the HV30/Opteka for all fisheye and and the DSLR as exclusively long lens for the time being. Here's some sample footage of cats. (you'd be surprised at how many of these you can find on vimeo)

Thursday Befo Break

Probably the last day of sun until we are in a post christmas state of being.
Features an all star ensemble cast of:
Moby, Rom, Gabe, Randall, Jethro, Luigi, August, Mitchell, and Andrew.
Music by the Fine Young Canibals
I didn't bother to get the audio of the song and the skating to mix well and I compressed it at low quality so it would upload faster. Sorry ya'll, I have something better for next time.

Satday

First time filming in around a month yielded a few clips for Augie and Morgan. Below are some screen-caps of clips you might one day be able to actually watch.
Drop in grind (maybe not landed, but still rad)

Morgan mid nose bonk in a line
Intense rollaway

Starting a line

Not the best filming, sorry guy

Just made a new edit I'll probably have up later tonight, but for now here's some good stuff you should probably watch:

Analog in Germany

Krook3d montage

TGI boyfriend

Cool interview with one of my favorite skate filmmakers, Greg Hunt:

Holy shit that was awesome, editing OIAM like it's a reality TV show is the best idea ever. Forrest isn't here to make friends.
"I got another board, his name is... What's his name?"
"His name's Daryl"

If you like old people skating, I recommend you check out Gonz/Cards/Stranger, a rad site that features only pictures of the Gonz, John Cardiel, and Julian Stranger.
Best skate photo.

TGIBF

While you were probably out getting your new Visio flatscreen with a 30% price cut (diss), The Stoke was celebrating the national holiday with a trip to the city of San Frachesca. Mission objective was a skate journey of epic proportions with Rom, Gabe, Ari, Luigi, Tyler, Will, and myself. Good times were achieved, dreams were broken, and much much more in our 4.3 mile loop de doo we took through da yay area capital.
